Iceland Become first country to legalise equal pay:

A new lae making it illegal to pay men more than women has taken effect in Iceland.The legislation makes Iceland the first country in the world to legalise equal pay between men and women.Under the new rules,companies and government agencies employing at least 25 people will have to obtain government certification of their equal pay policies.Those that fail to prove pay parity will face fines.

Haryana Makes Solar Plants Mandatory in new buildings:

The Haryana Government has mandated installation of Solar Photovoltaic Power plants in new buildings as per specified norms.This has been done in a move to conserve electricity and use it eefciently.The government says the move aims to effcient use of electricity and its conservation in the state.

MAS chief Ravi Menon Named best Central Bank Governor in Asia – Pacific:

Ravi Menon,the managing Director of the Monetary Authority Of Singapore (MAS),has been named the best Cental Bank Governor in Asia – Pacific for 2018 by UK based Magazine.The Banker,The annual award by the Banker,is based on a selection process involving aa survey of bankers and economists.

Meghalaya Signs host contract for 39th National Games in 2022:

Meghalaya signed the host city contract with the Indian Olympic Assosiation (IOA) for hosting the 39 th National Games in 2022.The tripartite contract was signed between the IOA,The Meghalaya State Olympic Assaosiation,and State Government.Meghalaya has made the bid to host the 39 th National Games after succesfully co-hosting the South Asian Games in 2017.

Goa to host 3rd Edition of Science Film Festival:

Goa will be hosting the third edition of the Science Film Festival of India in January 2018.The Festival of India in January 2018.The Festival,titled SCI – FFI Goa,is being organised by the state based Vidnyan Parishad,Goa Department of Science and Technology.The competition aims to boost the culture of Science films,all the films submitted should be related to science and technology.

World’s Biggest Cleanliness Surbey “Swachh Sarvekshan 2018” Launched:

The World’s biggest cleanliness survey “Swachh Sarvekshan Survey 2018” was launched in India by PM Narendra Modi.It will be conducted from the 4th January to 10 th March.The survey will evaliate achievements in cleanliness level of Urban areas.The cleanliness survey was launched in 2016 as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission.The main objective of Swachh Sarvekshan is to encourage large scale citizen participation and create awareness towards making towns and other cities a cleaner and better palce to live in.
